Eight Indonesians survive boat sinking

MANILA (AFP): Eight Indonesian sailors survived after their
boat capsized in the Sulawesi Sea near the extreme southern
Philippine island of Simunul, the official Philippine News Agency
(PNA), quoting police, said yesterday.

The boat was en route to the Malaysian state of Sabah from
Sumarinda town with a cargo of rattan when it was sunk by big
waves on Monday, the agency said. The eight crewmen managed to
swim to shore and safety and are awaiting repatriation, it added.
