Eight Flight Destinations to Return to Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport

Eight destinations have been confirmed for service when Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung resumes operations. The destinations are Denpasar, Balikpapan, Medan, Pontianak, Makassar, Batam, Padang, and Pekanbaru.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that while operational matters fall entirely under the authority of the Ministry of Transportation, these eight routes are projected to be served once the airport reopens. "Hopefully, flights will be available to Denpasar, Balikpapan, Medan, Pontianak, Makassar, Batam, Padang, and Pekanbaru. Those eight destinations are confirmed," he said on Saturday (4/7).

Farhan added that the Bandung City Government is continuing to prepare various supporting infrastructure ahead of the planned reopening of Husein Sastranegara Airport. Although the operational decision rests with the central government, the city administration is ensuring all preparations outside the airport area are being accelerated. The central government has reached an understanding regarding the plan to reopen the airport between July and September 2026.

"Alhamdulillah, even though we are not the decision-makers. The President, the Minister of Transportation, the Ministry of Defence, and the Indonesian Air Force have all agreed to operate the airport between July, August, or September. We are still waiting," he explained.

While awaiting the official decision, Farhan said the Bandung City Government is focusing on completing various infrastructure works around the airport. These include road repairs, drainage, tree pruning, installation and repair of public street lighting, and road marking renewal. Most of the physical preparations have been completed, but some outstanding tasks remain, particularly concerning the parking system and transport management in the airport area.

"The remaining homework now concerns parking and parking management as well as taxis. It has been confirmed that mass public transport such as angkot or buses will not be allowed to enter. If there is any, we will only provide a shuttle, but that is not yet final. From the external side, we are ready," he stated.
