Eight Essential Commodities Experience Price Increases in Semarang Ahead of Eid
UNGARAN — Prices of essential commodities ahead of Eid in Semarang District have remained largely stable.
From monitoring of 47 sub-variants of essential commodities at Projo Ambarawa Market and Bandarjo Market in Ungaran Barat, eight sub-variants experienced price increases. Meanwhile, 38 others remained stable, with only red curly chilli prices declining.
The Head of Market Division at the Semarang District Cooperative, Micro, Industrial and Trade Office, Joko Prayitno, explained that several important commodities experienced price rises. Stable commodities included C4 premium rice (Rp 15,167 per kilogramme) and medium rice (Rp 13,917).
Hindquarter beef prices rose to Rp 144,167 per kilogramme. Broiler chicken carcass prices increased from Rp 39,000 per kilogramme to Rp 40,000. Shallots rose from Rp 40,000 to Rp 40,833 per kilogramme.
Village chicken eggs experienced a slight increase to Rp 35,200, whilst broiler chicken eggs remained stable at an average price of Rp 30,000 per kilogramme. Bulk cooking oil remained stable at Rp 19,800 per litre.
The Coordinator of the Hiswana Migas Oil and Gas Association for Semarang District, Birzam Pratama, reported that an additional stock of 350,000 three-kilogramme LPG cylinders had been requested to anticipate increased public demand.
“We have also coordinated with the Trade and Industry Office to inform regions experiencing three-kilogramme LPG shortages,” he said. “This allows us to propose additional voluntary allocations to mitigate shortages,” he added.
Meanwhile, Semarang Regent Ngesti Nugraha assured that supplies of essential commodities before and during the upcoming Eid would be sufficient to meet public needs. “If prices rise closer to Eid, we will conduct market operations in cooperation with the Semarang District Chilli Champion initiative,” he said.
