Eight Days Before Eid, Traffic on Jabodetabek-West Java Toll Roads Rises to 175,000 Vehicles
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, through its Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, recorded increased traffic volumes on several toll road sections in the Jabodetabek and West Java regions as the Islamic New Year holiday (Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah) approached.
Senior General Manager of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, Widiyatmiko Nursejati, stated that on Friday, 13 March (eight days before Eid), traffic volume leaving the Jabodetabek region showed a modest increase. “Traffic volume leaving Jabodetabek towards Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Merak, and the Puncak region, distributed through the Cengkareng, Cikupa, and Ciawi 1 toll gates, was recorded at 175,132 vehicles, an increase of 0.72% compared to normal transaction volumes of 173,879 vehicles,” Widiyatmiko stated in a written statement on Saturday, 14 March.
He explained that traffic increases were recorded at several major toll gates serving as access routes to the airport and western Java regions.
At the Cengkareng toll gate heading towards Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, 83,572 vehicles passed through, a 1.20% increase compared to normal traffic of 82,577 vehicles. At the Cikupa toll gate towards Merak, traffic was recorded at 55,520 vehicles, representing a 6.88% increase from normal volumes of 51,944 vehicles. The Ciawi 1 toll gate towards the Puncak area of Bogor registered 36,040 vehicles, a decrease of 8.43% compared to normal traffic of 39,358 vehicles.
Traffic increases were also observed in West Java, particularly towards Bandung and surrounding areas. “In West Java, increased traffic volumes towards Bandung and Rancaekek were noted, with a total of 76,107 vehicles passing through, a 1.93% increase compared to normal transaction volumes of 74,668 vehicles,” Widiyatmiko said.
At the Cileunyi toll gate on the Padaleunyi toll road section, 38,728 vehicles travelled towards the Rancaekek, Garut, and surrounding areas, an increase of 2.34% from normal traffic of 37,844 vehicles. Traffic heading towards Bandung or Jakarta through the Cileunyi toll gate was recorded at 32,645 vehicles, a significant rise of 14.23% compared to normal volumes of 28,579 vehicles.
At the Pasteur toll gate towards Bandung, 37,379 vehicles were recorded, a 1.51% increase from normal traffic of 36,824 vehicles. Vehicles leaving Bandung towards Jakarta through this toll gate numbered 30,999, a decrease of 0.84% compared to normal volumes of 31,261 vehicles.
Jasa Marga urged travellers planning journeys to prepare by ensuring vehicles are in good condition, drivers are well-rested, and there is adequate fuel and electronic card balance for toll transactions. Road users were also advised to use the same electronic payment card throughout their journey on closed toll road systems, such as the Cipularang, Padaleunyi, and JORR II toll roads.
