Eight arrested for burglaries

BOGOR (JP): Bogor police have apprehended eight people over Monday's burglaries in the village of Galuga, Bogor regency, deputy chief of Bogor Police said on Tuesday.

Comr. Soemarso told reporters that the eight were members of an 11 person gang who broke into three houses belonging to Muarif, Inta bin Entong and Ucah in Galuga village at midnight on Monday. They were apprehended on Monday evening.

"They broke into the three houses within two hours and made off with a total of Rp 2.6 million cash, jewelry, two watches and clothes"

The eight were apprehended on Monday evening while the other three were still at large.

According to Soemarso, the arrests of Bambang, Ading, Sarki, Jaelani, Saya, Rio Suargana, Arsad and Amin were made following a report from one of the victims who personally knew Bambang.

Police apprehended Bambang first before arresting his seven other accomplices hours later.

"We also confiscated a hand-made gun, two sickles, a bayonet, and two machetes from the crooks," Soemarso said. (21/sur)
