Entering the third day of Eid 2026, on Monday (23/3), KAI Commuter Region 6 Yogyakarta was observed to be busy yet running smoothly, dominated by seasonal passengers, with a volume of 48,564 people comprising 41,418 users of the Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line and 7,146 users of the Prameks Commuter Line (data as of 14:00 WIB).

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that this figure would continue to increase until the last departure schedule of the Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line and Prameks Commuter Line.

“From the total passenger volume data since the 2026 Eid Transport Period from 13 March to today, KAI Commuter Area 6 Yogyakarta has carried 552,282 passengers,” she said. They consist of 480,270 users of the Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line and 72,012 users of the Prameks Commuter Line.

On Sunday (22/3) yesterday, the passenger volume for the Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line and Prameks Commuter Line reached 75,782 people. “Yesterday’s volume was the highest during the 2026 Eid Transport Period, compared to the first day of Eid on Saturday (21/3) which was 46,986 people,” said Karina.

The station crowded with passengers and becoming the station with the highest volume during the Eid Transport Period is Yogyakarta Station with 141,916 passengers boarding and alighting. This station serves as the main access point to the Malioboro tourist area, city centre, and various other favourite destinations.

“Not only because of its strategic location with tourist areas but also because Yogyakarta Station is integrated with long-distance trains, YIA Airport Train, Trans Jogja, and other online-based transportation,” added Karina.

Besides Yogyakarta Station, other stations with high volumes include Lempuyangan Station with 61,281 passengers boarding and alighting, followed by Solo Balapan Station with 55,487 people, and Purwosari Station with 43,890 people.

To support the smooth mobility of the public during the Eid holiday, KAI Commuter Area 6 Yogyakarta operates from Sunday (22/3) to Tuesday (24/3), adding 3 trips on the Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line, bringing the total to 34 trips.

The company reminds passengers to arrive earlier before the train departure schedule to anticipate increasingly congested road traffic conditions during the Eid homecoming period.

KAI Commuter urges passengers to continue following applicable rules and maintaining order and cleanliness at stations and on the Commuter Line.
