Eid Traffic Surge at Banyumanik Toll Gate in Semarang Increases 33.5 Per Cent
Traffic flow at the Banyumanik Toll Gate (GT) in Semarang has begun showing significant increases ahead of Eid 2026. Based on data from PT Trans Marga Jateng (TMJ), a total of 184,211 vehicles have passed through the gate heading towards Solo during the initial phase of the homebound exodus, between 11 and 16 March 2026.
This figure represents a 33.5 per cent increase when compared to normal traffic volume, which typically stands at 137,957 vehicles. This surge confirms that the movement of travellers heading towards the southern and eastern regions of Central Java is filling the trans-Java route earlier than the predicted peak of the Eid exodus.
In contrast, vehicle flow heading towards Jakarta through the Banyumanik toll gate remains stable with only marginal increases.
“This demonstrates that public mobility at present remains focused on outbound traffic from the capital and major cities in West Java heading eastward,” said TMJ Chief Executive Officer Prajudi on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
PT TMJ has placed personnel and support facilities on standby to ensure smooth operations on the Semarang-Solo toll section. The primary focus of toll road management is to maintain smooth transactions at toll gates and ensure no lengthy queues develop that would impede vehicle flow.
The toll road operator has also issued technical advisories to road users. Drivers are requested to conduct thorough checks on the physical condition of drivers and vehicle roadworthiness before beginning their journey.
Additionally, the availability of fuel and adequate electricity supply for electric vehicle users have been emphasised as critical points to prevent disruptions along the toll route.
For those requiring emergency assistance or current information regarding traffic conditions, PT TMJ provides a 24-hour One Call Centre service. Road users are expected to comply with traffic signs and observe speed limits for collective safety during the 2026 Eid transport period.
