PURWAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Jakarta–Cikampek II South Toll Road is expected to become one of the quite popular alternative routes for Eid returnees in 2026. Although still in functional status, this section is projected to be traversed by thousands of vehicles during the mudik and return flow periods. The President Director of PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan, Charles Lendra, revealed that the vehicle volume passing through this section is estimated to be quite significant, especially during the period after the holiday. However, Charles emphasised that the figure is still a projection and could change at any time. This is considering the toll’s functional status, so its operation heavily depends on on-site traffic conditions. “But seeing the number of returnees this year increasing, the volume is likely to be larger than 15,000 vehicles,” he said. In addition, the operational duration of this functional toll could also change, depending on field needs. According to him, the surge in vehicle flow does not only occur on peak days but also on surrounding days. “Usually, one day before and after the peak is still busy,” he said. With this projection, the Japek II South Toll Road is predicted to play an important role in helping to ease density on the main route, especially during the Eid return flow in 2026.
