The Garut Regency Government performed Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah prayers together with thousands of residents at the Grand Mosque of Garut, Garut Kota Subdistrict, on Saturday (21/3). The prayer was led by KH Muhammad Sufina, Chairman of the Mosque Prosperity Council, as Imam, with KH Cecep Abdul Halim serving as Khatib.

Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin stated that his administration specifically greeted the returnees to their hometowns and, on behalf of himself, his family, and the Garut Regency Government in West Java, extended a warm welcome back. The presence of these expatriates in their homeland is hoped to bring happiness and strengthen the bonds of kinship that have long been established.

“We emphasise that Eid al-Fitr is a day of victory after a full month of Muslims training patience, sincerity, and self-control during Ramadan. I interpret this holy day as a moment for mutual forgiveness, handshakes to reinforce our sense of brotherhood,” he said on Saturday (21/3/2026).

According to Abdusy, he invited the congregation to include prayers for fellow Muslims facing humanitarian disasters in various parts of the world, such as Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, and other countries, so that they may always be granted guidance and direction from Allah SWT.

“We beseech our collective prayers to supplicate for our brethren experiencing humanitarian disasters, whether in Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, or other countries. May Allah provide guidance and direction to our brothers and sisters,” he said.

He added that in relation to regional development, he conveyed the strategic importance of the spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation, as the current development challenges in Garut Regency are still very heavy, requiring active participation and collaboration from all societal elements, organisations, and the government to move forward together in building the region.

“We realise that the development challenges in Garut Regency are still very heavy, and we hope for cooperation and participation from the community, government, organisations, and all societal elements to jointly advance the Garut we love. We remind all residents to maintain harmony, peace, and hope that the sanctity achieved during Ramadan will make the people of Garut better individuals, solid in advancing our beloved birthplace,” he concluded.
