Eid Homecoming 2026: West Java Disaster Management Agency Prepares 82 Emergency Posts
The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of West Java, working together with district and city-level BPBD offices, will establish Eid al-Fitr homecoming emergency posts at 82 locations across West Java province. These posts are being set up as a preventive measure against potential disasters during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period in 2026.
The Head of Implementation of BPBD West Java, Teten Ali, stated that the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming posts comprise main posts and support posts. The main posts are located at district and city BPBD offices.
Meanwhile, support posts will be established at various locations with disaster risk potential, such as landslide-prone routes, flood-prone areas, and natural tourism zones.
The number of posts in each region varies depending on the disaster potential in that area. Some regions have up to five support posts.
Areas with the highest number of support posts include Tasikmalaya Regency and Pangandaran Regency, each having up to five post locations. Other areas have between one and four support posts.
According to Teten, each post will be equipped with personnel and disaster response equipment. BPBD personnel will be assisted by various organisations, including the Indonesian Red Cross and other agencies.
“In addition to providing disaster response services, BPBD also provides rest facilities at the Eid al-Fitr homecoming posts,” said Teten in a written statement on Friday 13 March 2026.
The Eid al-Fitr homecoming posts are scheduled to begin operations from 14 March 2026 to 28 March 2026.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) forecasts that weather conditions during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period will be dominated by cloud cover and heavy rainfall. West Java is expected to experience very high rainfall during this year’s Eid period.
BMKG urges the public to continue monitoring weather conditions during the homecoming journey through various available weather information services. These include the System of Interactive Aviation Meteorology (INASIAM) for air travel, Indonesia Weather Information for Shipping (INA-WIS) for maritime transport, and Digital Weather for Traffic (DWT) for land-based transport.
