Gewayantana Larantuka Airport in East Flores District, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), recorded a 25 per cent increase in passenger numbers during the 2026 Eid holiday (Lebaran) travel period.

“For the 2026 Eid transport period, there has been a 25 per cent increase in the number of arriving and departing passengers at Gewayantana Airport compared to the previous period,” said Puguh Lukito, Head of Gewayantana Larantuka Airport, when confirmed on Monday (16 March 2026).

Despite the increase, Puguh noted that no airline has yet requested additional flights for the period.

From 11 March to 16 March 2026, 14 flights operated on the Kupang-Larantuka and Larantuka-Kupang routes. By Monday, a total of 646 passengers had been processed, comprising 328 arrivals and 318 departures.

Cargo handled across the 14 flights totalled 665 kilogrammes.

A different situation occurred in maritime transport. Yulianto, Head of the PT Pelni Larantuka Branch, stated that sea passenger numbers at Larantuka Port have remained steady.

“For the NTT region (Larantuka), the number of passengers boarding and disembarking remains standard, ranging from approximately 400 to 600 per vessel arrival,” said Yulianto.
