DEPOK, KOMPAS.com — As Eid al-Fitr approaches, various household activities typically intensify. Beyond preparing for mudik, purchasing food supplies, and arranging homes to receive guests, many families undertake thorough house cleaning. A significant number of residents choose to utilise laundry services to help manage their washing workload. For many, using laundry services before Eid becomes a way to reduce household chores amid the rush of holiday preparations.

Erni, a local resident, acknowledged that she frequently uses laundry services, particularly for work clothes and large volumes of washing. “Because both my husband and I work, when we get home we are often exhausted. On normal days, I might send laundry to the service once a week,” she told Kompas.com on Monday, 16 March 2026.

According to Erni, using laundry services makes household chores considerably lighter, especially when washing accumulates. “We have a washing machine at home, but when washing piles up, it takes considerable time anyway. Particularly if you have to hang it, collect it, and then iron,” she said.

Erni revealed that in recent years she has increasingly used laundry services before Eid due to increased washing compared to normal days. “Usually before Eid there is considerably more washing than normal, so I also send more frequently to the laundry,” she noted.

According to her, house-cleaning activities before Eid typically involve fairly large items that are more easily washed at laundry facilities. The items brought are not only clothing, but also household furnishings. “Bed covers, blankets, carpets. I also remove curtains to be washed. For items like these I usually take them straight to the laundry because they are quite heavy if washed at home,” she explained.

Limited time before Eid makes her prefer using laundry services rather than washing at home, particularly to prepare for receiving guests. “Because if the house is clean and the furnishings are already washed, it feels more comfortable receiving guests,” she said. Similar sentiments were expressed by Arif, another laundry customer.
