Eid Holiday: Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang train services expanded
Jakarta — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Commuter has added two train journeys on the Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang line during the 2026 Eid holiday transport period.
Karina Amanda, Vice President Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, stated that the addition brings the total number of journeys between 13-30 March 2026 to 1,065 services.
“In fact, we have been running these two additional trains since the end of last year,” Karina said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
However, these services were not yet operational during last year’s 2025 Eid transport period, marking a key difference between the 2025 and 2026 holiday services.
The two trains each have a capacity of 10 standard formation units (SF), which represents the maximum capacity per train set. “The SF maximum is 10,” Karina stated.
PT KAI is ensuring readiness for the 2026 Eid holiday transport services across Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) and surrounding areas.
During this Eid transport period, KAI Commuter will operate 1,149 daily journeys across the Jabodetabek area, Merak and surrounding regions, including services to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
“KAI Commuter is providing a transport capacity of 50,244,436 passengers, which is four per cent higher than last year’s capacity,” she said.
With total capacity reaching 47,059,996, an estimated 18,972,445 passengers are projected to use the Jabodetabek Commuter Line.
“This figure represents a one per cent increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year’s Eid transport period,” she noted.
Beyond Jabodetabek, KAI Commuter is also optimising services on the Basoetta Commuter Line and the Merak Commuter Line.
To ensure passenger comfort, KAI Commuter will station 5,400 frontline personnel, including train drivers, security officers and health staff.
Additionally, KAI Commuter has added support facilities including portable toilets at Bogor and Pasar Minggu stations, as well as waiting area tents at Bekasi, Bogor, Tangerang, Rangkasbitung and Cilegon stations.
For the Merak Commuter Line, which is integrated with the Jabodetabek network, the company will operate 14 journeys per day with a transport capacity of 412,352 passengers. Passenger volume on this route is projected to reach 299,259 travellers, representing a one per cent increase from the previous year.
