Eid Holiday 2026: Visits to Istano Basa Pagaruyuang Increase, Vendors' Sales Surge

Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra visited the Istano Basa Pagaruyuang tourist attraction in West Sumatra on Tuesday (24/3) to ensure visitor comfort with the facilities provided to support activities during the 2026 Eid holiday. During the visit, Eka Putra inspected several key facilities such as toilets, ablution areas, and prayer rooms. He stated that the condition of these facilities was monitored to be clean and suitable for use by visitors. “Alhamdulillah, the condition of the toilets, ablution areas, and prayer rooms is sufficiently clean, so visitors feel safe and comfortable,” said Eka Putra. In addition, he took the time to dialogue with vendors selling in the area behind the palace. From observations, the vendors reported an increase in sales in line with the high number of tourists. The surge in visitors was evident since H+1 Eid. Even the day before, 10,500 tourists were recorded visiting the area. “Today the visits are also quite busy. Yesterday alone it reached 10,500 people. We hope all parties can continue to maintain the security and comfort of tourists,” he added. Eka Putra also expressed appreciation to all personnel involved in security and services on the ground, from health workers, Satpol PP, TNI, Polri, PMI, to BPBD who were on standby during the Eid holiday period. Meanwhile, the tourist site supervisor from the local UPT Tourism Office, Ridwan, stated that the visitor trend has continued to increase in recent days. “The day before last recorded 7,500 visitors, and yesterday it reached 10,500 people. Today is estimated to be even more because it is the last day of the holiday before work activities return to normal,” explained Ridwan. He also assured that public facilities in the tourist area remain clean and comfortable, so visitors feel at ease when coming to tour.
