Occupancy of the Economy People’s Train (KA 7040) on the Pasarsenen-Lempuyangan route during the 2026 Eid holiday transport period, spanning 11-24 March 2026, reached 100 per cent across every journey.

Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, stated that the high public interest in economy rail services demonstrates that rail-based transportation remains the primary choice for the public.

“This economy people’s train service is part of KAI’s commitment to providing public transportation that is safe, comfortable, and affordable for all segments of society,” Franoto said in an official statement on Wednesday (11/3/2026).

He continued, adding that this affordable tariff programme is expected to facilitate the public’s Eid holiday travel more easily, whilst supporting public mobility and economic activity.

The train set on this additional PSE-LPN service comprises two service classes: five executive class trains and four economy people’s class trains.

Specifically for the economy people’s class trains, each train provides 93 seats. Therefore, the total seating capacity for the economy class in this set reaches 372 seats.

On today’s journey, Wednesday (11/3/2026), the customer volume was recorded at 388 passengers, with an occupancy rate reaching 104 per cent.

According to Franoto, this demonstrates the high level of public interest in the economy people’s train service.

For the journey to Yogyakarta, this train ticket is priced at approximately 175,000 rupiah, after receiving a 30 per cent discount through the government stimulus programme.

In addition to the economical price, he noted, the train has also become the public’s choice.

The reasons are that trains offer more comfortable, safe, punctual travel, as well as freedom from traffic congestion. Thus, customers can enjoy long-distance travel with greater peace of mind.

Franoto emphasised that currently, Economy People’s Train tickets for departures on 25 March-1 April 2026 remain available.

He added that KAI continues to strive to improve service quality through various aspects.

From travel safety, punctuality, to improvements in service facilities at stations and on board the train. So that the public can travel with greater safety and comfort.
