Eid Flooded with Rain, One Neighbourhood and a Road in Jakarta Submerged

Flooding submerged one neighbourhood in Jagakarsa Subdistrict, South Jakarta, and Jalan Raya Bogor in Tengah Subdistrict, East Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3) evening during Eid. Head of the Data and Information Centre for Disaster Management at the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Mohamad Yohan, in Jakarta on Saturday, stated that by 9:00 PM WIB, the flooding in Jagakarsa had reached a height of 25 centimetres. “The cause was high rainfall and the overflow of Kali Lenggong,” said Yohan, citing Antara. Meanwhile, on Jalan Raya Bogor in Tengah Subdistrict, East Jakarta, the flooding reached a height of 30 centimetres. The DKI BPBD deployed personnel to monitor the pooling water in each area and coordinated with the Water Resources Agency, Public Works Agency, and Environmental and Landscaping Agency to conduct water pumping. In addition, they ensured that water barriers were functioning properly with local subdistrict heads and village heads, and prepared basic needs for affected residents. “The pooling water is targeted to recede quickly,” said Yohan. They advised the public to remain cautious and alert to potential flooding. “In emergency situations, immediately call the telephone number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop,” Yohan concluded.
