Pasar Senen Station is still crowded with passengers preparing to return to their hometowns ahead of Nyepi and Eid. A total of 22,519 mudik travellers are scheduled to depart via Pasar Senen Station today.

“Today at Pasar Senen Station, 22,519 passengers will be dispatched. This will continue or even increase, in line with ticket sales ongoing until midnight,” said Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop I, Franoto Wibowo, to reporters at Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Franoto stated that the number of mudik travellers departing from Gambir Station has reached 17,687. Overall, 52,000 people have departed using long-distance trains in the Daop 1 region.

“The total departure volume for Daop 1 is 52,278. Departures from Pasar Senen, Gambir, Bekasi, Cikampek, Cikarang, Jatinegara, and Karawang stations,” he said.

Franoto explained that from 15-20 March 2026, the number of passengers departing via Daop 1 has been relatively even, without any significant surges. He noted there is no notable peak in the mudik flow.

“From 15 to 20 March, the number of mudik travellers ranges between 51,000 and 52,000 per day in the Daop 1 Jakarta region. So, there is no mudik peak because the figures are relatively stable over the six days,” Franoto clarified.

Specifically at Pasar Senen Station, the average daily passenger count ranges from 22,000 to 23,000 people. According to Franoto, this figure is expected to continue rising as ticket sales persist until midnight.

The high public interest in mudik during the pre-Eid period has made ticket availability from 15 to 20 March extremely limited. Several popular routes are reported to be nearly sold out.

“Favourite mudik destinations include Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Purwokerto, Bandung, Malang, and Jember. For those dates, ticket availability is indeed very thin,” he revealed.

For information, during the Eid transportation period, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is operating a total of 68 regular long-distance train services plus 20 additional train services.
