Jakarta – The Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abu Rokhmad, announced that the Eid al-Fitr determination ruling session (sidang isbat) will be held at the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religious Affairs headquarters in Central Jakarta, on 19 March 2026.

Unlike the previous Ramadan determination session, which was held at the Borobudur Hotel in Jakarta, the Eid al-Fitr determination session will return to the Rasjidi Auditorium as in previous years.

“The session will be held at the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium following renovations carried out on several rooms in the area,” Abu explained on Monday (2 March 2026).

Abu noted that the choice of location at the Rasjidi Auditorium was made because of the availability of representative space for invited guests.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs will involve many parties in the Eid al-Fitr determination session, including astronomy experts from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

“The ruling session will involve various elements, including astronomy experts from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), planetariums, observatories, representatives of Islamic civil society organisations, and other relevant institutions,” he said.

Because of the wide representation involved, the ruling session decision carries strong religious legitimacy.

“From a technical perspective, we have prepared support for the session’s facilities and infrastructure, a system for reporting hilal sightings (rukyat), and coordination with crescent moon monitoring points throughout Indonesia. We hope the session process can proceed orderly, accurately, and informatively for the public,” he explained.

He urged the public to await the official government announcement after the entire session proceedings are completed.

“The result of the ruling session and the official announcement of the determination of 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah will be announced by the Minister of Religious Affairs,” Abu said.
