Eid al-Fitr: Prabowo holds halalbihalal with Jokowi at the Palace
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto held a halalbihalal with the 7th President Joko Widodo during the open house event at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3), as part of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
Jokowi visited the Merdeka Palace accompanied by his wife, Iriana, and his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep. Upon arrival at the Merdeka Palace, the 7th President of Indonesia was greeted by an honour guard, and President Prabowo personally welcomed his predecessor on the palace grounds, right near where Jokowi’s vehicle stopped.
Prabowo and Jokowi then walked together along the blue carpet laid out on the palace grounds, after which Prabowo escorted his guest into one of the rooms in the Merdeka Palace.
Inside the room, President Prabowo and Jokowi, along with their families, exchanged greetings and conversed for some time. In several photos shared by the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi and Iriana wore coordinated outfits in shades of cream and light brown, while President Prabowo wore a light blue top.
On the table in the room, an array of dry cakes and traditional Eid snacks were served, including nastar, small pieces of various cakes, and kembang goyang biscuits.
During the gathering with Jokowi, President Prabowo was accompanied by his only son, Didit Hediprasetyo, who wore a top matching his father’s colour along with a black peci cap.
The meeting between President Prabowo and the 7th President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace was held privately.
At the Merdeka Palace on Saturday, in a separate time, President Prabowo also held a halalbihalal with the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who attended the open house event with his two sons: Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), and Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono.
The Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, in its official release, described the arrival of the 7th and 6th Presidents at the Merdeka Palace as “reflecting the continuity of national leadership that remains closely intertwined in a familial atmosphere.”
“This year’s Eid al-Fitr open house serves as a meaningful space for strengthening bonds of brotherhood, nurturing harmony among leaders, and affirming the message that unity is the primary foundation in the nation’s journey towards the future,” stated the official release from the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia.
