Eid al-Fitr in Aceh: President Appreciates Progress of Post-Disaster Recovery
President Prabowo Subianto expressed appreciation for the progress of recovery in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, following the Sumatra disaster at the end of last year. He assessed that the recovery by the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR), led by Task Force Head Tito Karnavian, has proceeded very quickly.
This was stated by Prabowo after performing Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah prayers at Masjid Darussalam, in the temporary housing complex (huntara) of Aceh Tamiang, on Saturday (21/3). At that time, the President was accompanied by Task Force Head PRR Tito, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, National Police Chief General (Pol) Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, and Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf.
“Yes, the repairs, the recovery is very fast. Alhamdulillah, almost 100 percent [no one left in tents]. There are no more [evacuees] in tents, 100 percent,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the improving situation in the evacuation area. Currently, the evacuees have occupied the temporary housing prepared by the government.
In addition, electricity access in the affected areas has almost fully been restored. To date, the government continues to distribute various forms of assistance to the community.
“I am very proud, thank you to all the personnel, all the apparatus, from TNI, Polri, from BNPB, Public Works, local government, all ministries and agencies that have worked extraordinarily. They have worked extraordinarily, helping the people in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, and in other provinces,” stated Prabowo.
During a dialogue with the media, President Prabowo conveyed Eid al-Fitr 1447 H greetings and offered apologies to the Indonesian people, especially the disaster-affected residents of Sumatra.
After prayers, the President, together with Task Force Head Tito, directly inspected the temporary housing site and conducted halal bihalal. The event was followed by the symbolic distribution of Lebaran gift packages in the form of basic foodstuff packages and worship supplies to the people of Aceh Tamiang.
