Eid al-Fitr Homecoming 2026: Traffic on Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Surges 78.35 Percent
Traffic development on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) continues to surge alongside the ongoing flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. Vehicle traffic has been observed to increase on several main sections, particularly on corridors connecting cities and access routes to urban areas.
Acting EVP Corporate Secretary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), Hamdani, stated that this situation indicates the continuously growing mobility of the public with the start of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow in various regions.
“Cumulatively, the total daily traffic on the operating toll road sections reached 153,823 vehicles, an increase of 78.35 percent compared to normal traffic,” said Hamdani on Wednesday (17/3).
He explained that this increase reflects the increasingly high movement of the public undertaking homecoming trips earlier ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Monitoring is carried out continuously as part of Hutama Karya’s commitment to ensuring that toll road services remain safe, smooth, and comfortable for all road users.
Meanwhile, for toll road sections operated functionally during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period on 17 March 2026, the records are as follows:
Hutama Karya urges all road users to plan their journeys well, especially for those starting their homecoming trips earlier. Road users are expected to obey traffic signs and speed limits, maintain a safe distance, ensure the vehicle and driver are in prime condition, and rest at the nearest rest area if feeling tired or drowsy, he said.
He emphasised that Hutama Karya is committed to maintaining the smoothness and safety of traffic on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road through the readiness of personnel, supporting facilities, and coordination with relevant parties as a manifestation of #ServingWholeheartedly.
“The public can also monitor the latest information regarding traffic conditions and toll road services through the official account @hutamakaryatollroad and the HK Toll Apps application, which provides operational information and real-time traffic updates,” he concluded.
