JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has recorded the highest daily usage transactions at Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in history. The record occurred during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return period in 2026, specifically on 23 March 2026, with 18,088 electric car transactions and energy consumption of 427,980 kilowatt-hours (kWh). Both indicators increased 4.15 times compared to the same period the previous year, which saw 4,360 transactions and 103,010 kWh. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the high daily transactions reflect the growing public confidence in the reliability of the electric vehicle infrastructure provided by PLN and its partners, especially during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming momentum. Darmawan added that along with the growth in electric vehicle adoption in Indonesia, PLN and its partners have provided 4,769 SPKLU units spread across 3,097 locations throughout Indonesia, with an average distance between SPKLUs of about 22 kilometres. Specifically on the main homecoming routes of Trans-Sumatra, Java, and Bali, there are 1,681 SPKLU units at 994 locations, both on toll roads and non-toll roads. This number has increased by around 70 per cent compared to the previous Eid al-Fitr. In addition to infrastructure expansion, PLN has also improved service quality through charging technology modernisation. Several SPKLUs with high occupancy rates have been upgraded from standard charging to fast charging and even ultra-fast charging to speed up the charging process. Not only that, service quality improvements are also accompanied by strengthening the digital ecosystem through the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature in the PLN Mobile application. “We continue to enhance transaction convenience through the development of EV-TAP, which uses electronic card-based payments at several SPKLUs on the Trans-Java homecoming route, making the charging process faster and more practical,” said Darmawan.
