Eid al-Fitr Holiday: Number of Passengers at Ngurah Rai Airport Rises 1 Percent
Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali served 1.14 million passengers over 18 days during the integrated transport post period for Eid al-Fitr 2026.
“During the 18-day implementation of the integrated post from 13 to 30 March 2026, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, as the airport manager, recorded services to 1.14 million passengers in total,” said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Nugroho Jati, in a statement in Denpasar, Bali, on Tuesday.
He detailed that the 1.14 million passengers consisted of 503,000 domestic passengers and 639,000 on international routes. This figure represents a 1 percent increase compared to the 2025 Eid al-Fitr transport post period, which totalled 1.13 million passengers.
During those 18 days, Ngurah Rai Airport recorded the peak passenger movement before Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, or three days before Eid (H-3), with 71,442 passengers.
Meanwhile, the peak post-Eid al-Fitr passenger movement occurred on Monday, 23 March 2026, or two days after Eid (H+2), with 72,139 passengers.
“The passenger movement on Monday, 23 March also became the highest throughout the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transport post period,” Nugroho stated.
This year, in addition to the increase in passengers, aircraft movements also rose by up to 3 percent. A total of 6,927 aircraft movements occurred during the 2026 Eid period, compared to 6,734 movements in 2025.
The airport manager in South Bali stated that the Tangerang (CGK) route was the busiest domestic route during the 2026 Eid transport post period, serving 1,400 aircraft movements. This was followed by Surabaya (SUB) with 495 movements, and Lombok (LOP) with 341 movements.
For international routes, the Singapore (SIN) route had the most aircraft movements at 538, followed by Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with 464 movements, and Perth (PER) with 377 movements.
Nugroho also noted that the aircraft movements included realisations of additional flights, totalling 272 movements.
The routes with the most additional flight realisations included Tangerang (CGK) with 134 movements, Surabaya (SUB) with 58 movements, and Lombok (LOP) with 28 movements.
Nugroho assured that during the post period, the Eid flow operations ran smoothly and under control, successfully achieving zero accidents.
“During the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transport post period, flight and airport operations proceeded safely, orderly, and conducive. We recorded increases in passenger and aircraft movements that were still well accommodated. Most importantly, all parties successfully achieved zero accident status during the implementation,” he said.
In addition to cooperation from many parties, Nugroho stated that the smoothness was due to optimisations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, such as adding service personnel, activating traffic monitoring posts, increasing operational monitoring frequency, and providing passenger information services.
Furthermore, anticipatory measures against weather factors were carried out intensively to ensure flight operation safety.
