Eid al-Fitr: BPJPH Urges Public to Choose Halal-Certified Products
The Eid al-Fitr celebration marks a period of increased consumer spending across food, beverages, clothing, and cosmetics. During this time, the public is urged to exercise greater caution in selecting products for consumption and use.
Ahmad Haikal Hasan, head of the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), emphasised that the surge in shopping activity ahead of the holiday must be balanced with awareness to ensure product safety and halal certification.
“Eid al-Fitr is a moment when consumer spending increases, from food and beverages to clothing and cosmetics. Therefore, it is important for us to remain careful in selecting products we consume,” said Haikal, known as Babe Haikal, in a statement released on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
According to him, choosing halal products is not only about religious values but also encompasses product safety, hygiene, and quality. This is important to provide consumers with peace of mind, comfort, and assurance.
“Ensure that the products we choose are halal-certified. This way, we can have greater peace of mind when consuming them because they have undergone processes in accordance with established regulations,” said Babe Haikal.
“By choosing halal products, we contribute to strengthening the implementation of halal product assurance and promoting the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products at the global level,” he added.
The BPJPH also invited the public to use the Eid al-Fitr momentum as a collective step to support national economic growth through consumption of halal products.
“Let us support halal products as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s halal industry so it becomes increasingly competitive and capable of operating on the international stage,” urged Babe Haikal.
Through collective awareness in choosing halal products, it is hoped that Indonesia’s halal product ecosystem will strengthen further and provide broad benefits for both consumers and business operators in the country.
