Good news for those returning home during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return flow. The government, together with toll road operators, has once again offered a 30% discount on toll fees for the Eid return flow to help alleviate travel costs back to hometowns. This toll discount programme for the Eid return flow also serves as a strategy to ease density, particularly towards the Jakarta return flow areas, which are predicted to peak at the end of March 2026. With the Eid return flow toll discount, private vehicle travellers from Semarang to Jakarta now only need to pay Rp 304,150, down from the normal rate of Rp 467,500. This means the 26-27 March 2026 return flow toll discount can only be utilised during a limited period. Travellers are advised to plan their journeys to take advantage of the more economical rates. This policy is also expected to help distribute traffic so it does not pile up at the return flow peak, estimated to occur on 28-29 March 2026.
