Eid al-Fitr 2026 Return Flow: Jasindo Reminds of the Importance of Travel Insurance
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Eid al-Fitr 2026 return flow is underway, with increased mobility of returnees across various transport routes. Amid this surge in travel, Asuransi Jasindo is reminding the public of the importance of travel protection to anticipate accident risks.
Company Secretary of Asuransi Jasindo, Brellian Gema Widayana, stated that the return flow phase carries different vulnerability levels compared to the outbound journey. The declining physical condition of returnees after long trips is a primary factor increasing accident potential.
“The return flow has risk levels that are no less high than the outbound flow. Factors such as fatigue, reduced concentration, and a surge in vehicle volume form a combination that must be anticipated seriously. In these conditions, insurance protection is essential to provide peace of mind during travel,” said Brellian in a press release on Thursday (26/3/2026).
Based on data from the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, the Eid al-Fitr outbound and return periods consistently rank among the highest for traffic accident rates each year. The majority of accidents are triggered by human error factors, such as driver fatigue and low vigilance during travel.
Brellian explained that Asuransi Jasindo previously participated in the Safe Homecoming with BUMN programme alongside the Indonesia Financial Group (IFG). Through this programme, participants received personal accident protection with coverage up to Rp100 million.
This protection covers risks of death, permanent total disability, as well as treatment and medical costs resulting from accidents during travel. Brellian believes that travel protection is not only needed during the outbound journey but also when people return to their home cities.
To support services for the public, Asuransi Jasindo provides a 24-hour contact centre via the 1500-073 service, its official Instagram account, and a network of representative offices in various regions. These services are prepared so that participants can receive assistance when facing travel risks.
Brellian stated that the return flow momentum serves as a reminder that public literacy regarding travel insurance still needs to be improved. The high seasonal mobility, such as during Eid al-Fitr, is seen as requiring preparedness for protection from the trip planning stage.
“Insurance should be part of travel planning, not just an additional option. With adequate protection, the public can travel more calmly amid various potential risks,” said Brellian.
