Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero), or Pelni, projects a four percent increase in passengers during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period compared to the previous year. Pelni’s Corporate Secretary Ditto Pappilanda told ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday that during the same period in 2025 (16 March – 17 April 2025), the number of passengers transported by Pelni’s Jakarta Branch was 23,549 people. Meanwhile, for the period from 6 March to 6 April 2026, the number of passengers at the Pelni Jakarta Branch has so far reached 23,768 people, marking a two percent increase, with eight more sailings remaining until the end of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period. “We estimate that by the end of the period on 6 April 2026, the total increase could reach around four percent compared to the previous year,” said Ditto. As of 27 March 2026, he added, ticket sales for the return flow from Tanjung Priok Port during the period from 22 March to 6 April 2026 have reached 10,751 passengers. The peak of this year’s return flow is projected to occur on Thursday (2 April) with an estimated 27,009 passengers. “The peak return flow is predicted to occur on 2 April 2026 with a projection of 27,009 passengers,” Ditto stated. He also advised prospective travellers without tickets to book immediately through the state-owned shipping company’s official channels to avoid the risk of quota exhaustion and unofficial tickets. In addition, Ditto reminded passengers to always comply with safety protocols onboard and maintain cleanliness during the journey.
