The number of Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming passengers through Tenau Port in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has been monitored as busy in recent days but remains safe and under control.

The Head of the Kupang Branch of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni), Teguh Hari Setiadi, stated that as of Thursday (19/3), the total number of embarking passengers recorded reached 3,153 people, with movements dominated by KM Awu.

Data records show that for KM Awu, during two dockings on 17 and 19 March 2026, the number of embarking passengers reached 2,124 people, disembarking passengers numbered 1,544, and transit passengers totalled 296.

Meanwhile, KM Wilis, which docked on 16 and 18 March 2026, recorded a total of 1,029 embarking passengers, 838 disembarking, and 163 transit passengers. Overall, the total number of disembarking passengers at Tenau Port reached 2,382, with 459 transit passengers.

Teguh revealed that several ships are still scheduled to arrive to serve the homecoming flow, namely KM Awu arriving from Kalabahi, Alor Regency, on 19 March, and KM Bukit Siguntang also arriving on 20 March from Lewoleba.

“KM Bukit Siguntang and KM Tidar are scheduled to arrive on 24 March, from Kalabahi and Lewoleba respectively,” he said.

The high flow of Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming passengers indicates increasing mobility of the community utilising sea transportation to return to their hometowns in various areas of East Nusa Tenggara. The surge in homecoming traffic occurs alongside rising community mobility ahead of the major religious holiday.
