Eid al-Fitr 2026 Homecoming: Jabotabek Traffic Volume Reaches 1.2 Million, Jasa Marga Prepares Traffic Engineering
The President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A. Purwantono, reported that the volume of vehicles leaving the Jabotabek region from H-10 to H-4 of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday, or the period of 11–17 March 2026, reached 1,213,388 vehicles. This data is an accumulation of traffic from four main toll gates: GT Cikampek Utama (Trans Java), GT Kalihurip Utama (Bandung), GT Cikupa (Merak), and GT Ciawi (Puncak). The figure represents a 20.9 per cent increase compared to normal traffic of 1,003,695 vehicles. According to Rivan, this number of vehicles is equivalent to 34.4 per cent of the total projection of 3.5 million vehicles exiting Jakarta during the period of 11–31 March 2026. “The 1.2 million vehicles that have left the Jabotabek area constitute 34.4 per cent of the total projected 3.5 million outbound traffic vehicles from Jakarta during the period of 11–31 March 2026,” said Rivan. Traffic Flow Distribution - East Direction (Trans Java & Bandung): 612,956 vehicles (50.5 per cent), up 46.5 per cent from normal. Breakdown: GT Cikampek Utama 387,451 vehicles (+95.6 per cent) and GT Kalihurip Utama 225,505 vehicles (+2.3 per cent). - West Direction (Merak): 353,032 vehicles (29.1 per cent), up 4.7 per cent from normal. - South Direction (Puncak): 247,400 vehicles (20.4 per cent), slightly down 0.3 per cent from normal. On H-4, Tuesday 17 March 2026, the volume of vehicles leaving Jabotabek through the four main toll gates was recorded at 221,978 vehicles, an increase of 68.1 per cent from normal traffic of 132,066 vehicles. One-Way Traffic Engineering With the rising volume, the Indonesian National Police implemented traffic engineering in the form of a one-way system for the homecoming flow from KM 70 of the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road to KM 421 of the Semarang–Solo Toll Road. This policy applies from Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 12:00 until Friday, 20 March 2026 at 24:00 local time. Jasa Marga, through its subsidiary PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, supports the implementation of one-way phase I on the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road to ease vehicle density heading east. Other strategies include the operation of functional lanes on several toll road sections such as the Solo–Yogyakarta–NYIA Kulon Progo Toll Road, Probolinggo–Situbondo–Banyuwangi Toll Road, and Jakarta–Cikampek II South Toll Road. Jasa Marga predicts the peak homecoming flow will occur on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. Rivan advises road users to plan their journeys carefully, utilising real-time traffic information through the Travoy app and Travoy FM radio broadcasts.
