Eid al-Fitr 1447 H: Prabowo Calls for Strengthening Unity and National Togetherness

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto extended greetings for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE. Prabowo expressed his gratitude for being reunited with the Day of Victory. “I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of myself, my family, and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, extend Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah greetings. Please forgive me for any physical or emotional shortcomings, minal aidin wal faizin,” said Prabowo, in a YouTube video from the Presidential Secretariat, Jakarta, on Friday (20/3/2026). Prabowo invited the nation to use this Lebaran momentum as an opportunity for mutual forgiveness and to strengthen ties of kinship. “Let us continue to strengthen our togetherness as one big Indonesian family,” added Prabowo. The Head of State also called on every element of the nation to work hard and help one another to build Indonesia into a more just, prosperous, and strong country. “May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala accept all our deeds of worship, and always bestow His mercy and blessings upon the Indonesian nation,” he stated. The government has set 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah or Eid al-Fitr 2026/1447 Hijriah to fall on Saturday, 21 March 2026. This decision was taken through the isbat session held by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag). Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar conveyed that the results of crescent moon monitoring formed the primary basis for determining 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah. The setting of the start of Syawal was based on astronomical calculations (hisab) as well as crescent moon sightings (rukyatul hilal) from hundreds of locations across Indonesia.
