Eid al-Adha is not only about the ritual of animal sacrifice but also an opportunity to strengthen social solidarity and the spirit of sharing among communities in need. The qurban programme is a tangible expression of social care and a manifestation of piety and sincerity in sharing with the community, said Suryantoro Waluyo, HR Director of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (KRAS), during the sacrificial animal aid distribution at the Krakatau Steel Training Centre in Cilegon, Banten, on Friday, 29 May 2026. Attending the ceremony for the sacrificial animal distribution under the social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) programme for Eid al-Adha 1447 was Rahmatullah, Head of the People’s Welfare Division at Cilegon City Secretariat, representing Mayor Robinsar. Suryantoro stated that the total sacrificial animals distributed were 43 cattle and 149 goats worth Rp2 billion. Through this aid, Krakatau Steel contributed 5,000 meat packages distributed to 13,000 beneficiaries in the surrounding area. He added that all distributed animals were confirmed healthy and met Sharia requirements. We hope the distribution process will be trustworthy, targeted, and strengthen synergy between the company, local government, and Cilegon City communities, said Suryantoro. Akbar Djohan, CEO of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk, stated that the programme underscores the strategic role of Krakatau Steel Group, which not only drives the national industry but also serves as a social and economic anchor maintaining community welfare in operational areas. He believes the procurement of sacrificial animals will create significant multiplier effects on the ground, as the company prioritises purchases from local farmers to inject liquidity directly into the livestock ecosystem. This will stimulate cash flow for feed suppliers and create seasonal jobs for local transport and logistics services, explained Akbar Djohan, who is also Chairman of the Indonesia Iron & Steel Industry Association (IISIA) and Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI). On the social front, he added, the distribution serves as a key instrument in maintaining regional harmony, strengthening household food security, and reinforcing the company’s social legitimacy among stakeholders. He stressed that the sacrificial animal distribution programme aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, particularly in achieving social welfare, poverty alleviation, food security, and strengthening grassroots economy. For Krakatau Steel, Eid al-Adha embodies the presence of a state-owned enterprise among the community. As a company that has grown alongside Cilegon City, we not only focus on business and national industry growth but also have a social responsibility to continuously benefit surrounding communities, said Akbar Djohan. According to him, direct community distribution requires inclusive corporate presence to support faster economic equality and empower local farmers through large-scale sacrificial animal procurement. Meanwhile, Cilegon City Government expressed appreciation for Krakatau Steel Group’s consistent distribution of sacrificial animal aid to the city’s residents. Rahmatullah, Head of the People’s Welfare Division at Cilegon City Secretariat, described the event as a tangible form of social collaboration between industry, government, and community. This event is a moment for fostering ties and promoting generosity and social care. We hope Krakatau Steel Group continues to grow and benefit Cilegon City residents widely, concluded Rahmatullah. PT Jaminan Pembiayaan Askrindo Syariah distributed four cattle and 35 goats to the community during Eid al-Adha 1447H. McDonald’s Indonesia’s ‘McD Berbagi Kurban’ initiative took place this year at 23 locations across 21 districts in 11 provinces. The Eid al-Adha sacrifice is seen as an opportunity to boost communal spirit and social care within communities. PERUMDA Dharma Jaya was once again entrusted by various institutions and community organisations to slaughter sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah/2026. The ‘Kurban Berkah Berdayakan Desa’ programme is expected to strengthen food security for approximately 3,800 underprivileged families.
