The Eid al-Adha 2026 holiday period could potentially become a six-day long weekend if the public takes annual leave on Friday, 29 May 2026.

According to the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of three ministers—Number 1497 of 2025, Number 2 of 2025, and Number 5 of 2025—Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah falls on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. The government has also designated Thursday, 28 May 2026, as a collective leave day for Eid al-Adha.

By taking leave on that Friday, the public could enjoy a continuous six-day holiday lasting until Monday, 1 June 2026. This is because Saturday, 30 May 2026, and Sunday, 31 May 2026, are weekend holidays. Furthermore, Sunday, 31 May 2026, coincides with Vesak Day 2570 BE. The long holiday continues into Monday, 1 June 2026, which marks Pancasila Day.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs previously confirmed that Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah falls on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, following an ‘isbat’ session held on Sunday, 17 May 2026. Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated that the decision was reached after the government integrated ‘hisab’ (astronomical calculation) and ‘rukyatul hilal’ (moon sighting) results from 88 monitoring points across Indonesia.

‘It was agreed that 1 Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah falls on Monday, 18 May 2026, and thus Eid al-Adha 1447 H on 10 Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah falls on Wednesday, 27 May 2026,’ said Nasaruddin. The moon sighting monitoring was conducted alongside various parties, including regional Ministries of Religious Affairs, BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency), BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency), MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council), Islamic organisations, and astronomical experts.
