Eid al-Adha Long Holiday Boosts Mobility as 469,319 Vehicles Leave Jabotabek
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Long holidays coinciding with Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri, Waisak, and Pancasila Day have boosted public mobility. PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded 469,319 vehicles leaving the Jabotabek area from H-1 to H+1 of the long holiday, or 26-28 May 2026. This figure represents a 14.65% increase compared to the normal count of 409,344 vehicles. The data is an accumulation of vehicles passing through four main toll gates: Cikampek Main Toll Gate for Trans-Java, Kalihurip Main Toll Gate for Bandung, Cikupa Toll Gate for Merak, and Ciawi Toll Gate for the Puncak area.
The surge in vehicle numbers reflects high travel activity during the long holiday period, whether for tourism, family visits, or long-distance travel to various regions. Most vehicles headed east towards Trans-Java and Bandung, with a total of 218,225 units, or 46.5% of total traffic distribution. Meanwhile, 135,842 vehicles (28.9%) moved west towards Merak, and 115,252 units (24.6%) went to the Puncak area.
Vehicles heading to Bandung via the Cipularang Toll Road’s Kalihurip Main Toll Gate reached 106,165, a 23.92% increase from normal traffic. Overall, traffic volume heading east increased by 30.93% compared to usual conditions. Conversely, traffic to Merak via the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road’s Cikupa Toll Gate totalled 135,842 vehicles, a 5.83% decrease from normal. Traffic to the Puncak area via the Jagorawi Toll Road’s Ciawi Toll Gate reached 115,252 vehicles, up 17.10% from normal.
On the first day after Eid al-Adha (Thursday, 28 May 2026), 148,280 vehicles left Jabotabek, a 5.20% rise from the daily normal of 140,952 vehicles.
“The rise in public mobility during the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri, Waisak, and Pancasila Day long holidays was anticipated through the optimisation of technology at the Jasa Marga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC), the operational traffic control hub of the Jasa Marga Group,” said Rivan.
He added that Jasa Marga utilised JMTC technology to support real-time traffic management during the long holiday period.
“Through the integration of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) devices, we monitor traffic conditions swiftly and accurately to anticipate potential congestion,” Rivan said.
In addition to optimising technology, Jasa Marga deployed 24-hour operational services, including transaction officers, traffic service personnel, and rest area facilities.
“We have deployed transaction officers and traffic service personnel, and ensured the readiness of rest area facilities to maintain road user comfort throughout the holiday period,” Rivan concluded.
As part of its service to road users, traffic data managed by JMTC is accessible via the Travoy app. Jasa Marga urged the public to prepare journeys thoroughly, ensure drivers and vehicles are in optimal condition, and adhere to traffic rules for collective safety.
