Jakarta (ANTARA) – The celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 H at Salemba Class IIA Prison in Central Jakarta proceeded with solemnity and unity, involving all staff and inmates. Head of Salemba Class IIA Prison Amico Balalembang stated, “This Eid al-Adha occasion is hoped to serve as a means for self-reflection and strengthening religious values for both inmates and staff,” on Wednesday in Jakarta. Amico explained that the Eid observance is not merely an act of worship but also a spiritual rehabilitation tool for inmates to embrace values of sincerity, sacrifice, and compassion towards others. “This fosters a harmonious and humane prison environment,” he added. Meanwhile, Director General of Corrections Mashudi conducted oversight at Salemba Class IIA Prison to ensure the Eid al-Adha activities were conducted safely, orderly, and smoothly. The monitoring was part of the Directorate General of Corrections’ support for religious and social activities within the prison system, particularly during Eid al-Adha, which emphasises compassion, sacrifice, and togetherness. During the visit, Mashudi inspected the Eid al-Adha activities, including the sacrifice of animals at the prison. Mashudi distributed sacrificial animals at the prison as an act of care and sharing, especially for inmates and the local community in need. The Eid al-Adha animal sacrifice at Salemba Class IIA Prison involved staff and inmates as part of personality development and strengthening spiritual and social values. Amico added that this year, the prison slaughtered 12 cattle and 17 goats as a gesture of solidarity between staff and inmates. “The sacrificial animals represent tangible expressions of generosity and concern for inmates, staff, and the surrounding community during Eid al-Adha,” he added.
