Eid al-Adha Boosts Focus on Mosque Comfort and Maintenance
This year’s Eid al-Adha is not only celebrated as a religious sacrifice ritual but also serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining comfortable and suitable places of worship for the community. Across various regions, attention to mosque and musalla conditions has increased alongside heightened religious activities during the Eid al-Adha period.
The condition of worship building exteriors, particularly areas prone to seepage and dampness, has become a key focus. Maintenance and refurbishment are deemed essential to ensure mosques and musallas provide greater comfort for worshippers during daily religious activities.
Several mosques and musallas in Tuban, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Serang have undergone building refurbishments to enhance worshippers’ comfort and protect exteriors from weather and moisture exposure. These renovations are supported by Aquaproof’s waterproofing coatings through the #AquaproofBerbagi initiative.
The initiative was implemented at At-Taubah Musalla in Tuban, Al-Jihad Mosque in Bandung, Al-Ikhlas and Sabilul Huda Mosques in Yogyakarta, and Nurul Ibad Mosque in Serang. Mosque authorities selected colours based on their specific needs and building aesthetics.
For instance, Sabilul Huda Mosque in Yogyakarta chose Aquaproof White 011 as the primary colour, combined with Terracotta 042 and Light Blue 032. Meanwhile, At-Taubah Musalla in Tuban selected Mocha 105 as the main hue with Off White 012 as an accent.
Marketing Manager of PT Adhi Cakra Utama, Chandra Kurniawan, stated that the support reflects Aquaproof’s commitment to renovating places of worship, particularly exteriors requiring enhanced protection against seepage and dampness issues.
‘The provision of paint through #AquaproofBerbagi demonstrates Aquaproof’s concern for places of worship needing renovation, especially exteriors requiring extra protection to prevent seepage and dampness. We hope the comprehensive application of Aquaproof coatings will make these supported mosques and musallas more comfortable for local communities during Eid al-Adha prayers and daily activities,’ said Chandra Kurniawan.
The programme involved local residents and painters in the renovation process. Sunarko, lead painter at At-Taubah Musalla, noted Aquaproof was chosen for its durability against weather conditions.
He added that the product has long been recognised as Indonesia’s pioneer in waterproof coatings and offers long-term resilience.
Similarly, Edi Purnomo, lead painter at Yogyakarta’s Sabilul Huda Mosque, highlighted the importance of waterproof coatings in protecting mosque structures from heavy rain and extreme heat.
Appreciation also came from mosque management. Purwanto, head of Al-Ikhlas Mosque, said the assistance improved the building’s condition and made it more comfortable for the community.
Meanwhile, Sabilul Huda Mosque representative Riyanto stated the refurbishment gave the mosque a brighter, more vibrant appearance, enhancing worshippers’ comfort.
Beyond being a corporate social initiative, the effort aligns with the #PilihYangSNI campaign. Aquaproof confirmed its products hold SNI 8665:2018 certification for water-based waterproof coatings.
Chandra stated that certified products are crucial for ensuring long-term building protection quality, whether for residential, commercial, or worship spaces.
‘The initiative also aligns with the #PilihYangSNI campaign. Aquaproof is the only company certified under SNI 8665:2018 for water-based waterproof coatings. Using SNI-certified products guarantees quality without doubt,’ he said.
