JAKARTA — As the peak Eid homecoming season of 2026 approached, PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik) recorded a significant increase in pet shipments through its KALOG Express retail service.

This increase occurred alongside rising public mobility during the Ramadhan and Eid periods, with more people transporting or shipping their beloved pets to their hometowns for the celebrations.

Ayi Suryandi, Manager of Marketing & Sales Courier for KAI Logistik, stated that by the third week of Ramadhan, the company had shipped a total of 10,874 pets.

According to him, the trend of rising interest in pet shipments through KALOG Express became more apparent during the second and third weeks of Ramadhan.

“As the Eid period draws nearer, KAI Logistik has recorded an average shipment during the third week of Ramadhan of approximately 523 pets per day, representing an increase of around 7 per cent compared to daily averages during ordinary times, and growth of about 5 per cent compared to the early Ramadhan period,” Ayi stated in a press release on Monday, 16 March 2026.

He added that this situation demonstrated that the public was beginning to prepare for their homecoming journeys whilst ensuring their pets could remain with their families in their hometowns or arrive first in their destination cities.

Meanwhile, a significant portion of shipments originated from several cities in East Java, including Tulungagung, Blitar, and Jombang, which served as primary departure points for pet shipments through KAI Logistik’s service.

When compared with the previous year’s Eid transport period, this year’s shipping trend showed quite substantial growth.

During last year’s Eid period (21 March to 11 April 2025), KAI Logistik transported 5,492 pets with an average of around 250 animals per day.

“The trend of increased pet shipment ahead of this year’s Eid demonstrates the growing public confidence in KALOG Express services. We ensure that every shipment is carried out with special handling standards to maintain the safety and comfort of animals during their journey,” Ayi said.

He explained that KAI Logistik applies animal welfare principles through initial physical condition checks, cage verification in accordance with standards, placement in areas with good air circulation, and special “Live Animal” labelling to ensure handlers treat the animals with greater care.
