PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has recorded 698,021 train tickets sold ahead of the 2026 Eid holiday. To date, 377,902 tickets remain unsold.

“KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has provided seating capacity of 1,076,196 for long-distance train travel. To date, 698,021 tickets have been sold or reserved by the public, with approximately 377,902 remaining seats or a current occupancy rate of around 65 per cent,” said Franoto Wibowo, Manager of Public Relations for PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daop 1 Jakarta, when contacted on Sunday (15 March 2026).

Franoto added that the period with the highest sales rate occurred from 11 to 20 March 2026, with total sales reaching 451,219 tickets. He detailed that the dates with the highest sales included 15 March with 51,044 tickets, 18 March with 49,663 tickets, 19 March with 49,023 tickets, 16 March with 48,669 tickets, and 17 March with 47,275 tickets.

“During the period from 15 to 20 March, average seat availability remained below 1,000 seats per day, meaning those dates are approaching fully booked conditions,” he explained.

Franoto stated that KAI ensures the public still has many travel options. He noted that departures during the period from 21 March to 1 April 2026 still have approximately 359,025 tickets available for booking.

“The government has also provided economic stimulus in the form of a 30 per cent fare discount for commercial economy class trains during the period 14 to 29 March 2026. Nationally, this programme provides approximately 1.2 million seats,” he said.

During the Eid transport period, Daop 1 Jakarta operates 68 long-distance regular train services daily. In addition, there are additional Eid holiday train services totalling 12 departures from Gambir Station and 7 departures from Pasar Senen Station, as well as 4 departures for the Free Motorcycle programme.

“KAI urges the public who have already purchased tickets to arrive at the station earlier and pay attention to departure schedules to ensure safe, comfortable, and smooth travel during the Eid transport period,” he added.
