EHG strengthens sustainable healthcare ecosystem
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Edelweiss Healthcare Group (EHG) has expressed its appreciation to insurance company partners through the Edelweiss Excellence Award 2026, an effort aimed at strengthening the sustainable healthcare service ecosystem and increasing workforce productivity in Indonesia.
“This event serves as EHG’s official form of appreciation to our insurance partners who contribute strategically to building a sustainable healthcare service ecosystem,” said the CEO of Edelswiss Healthcare Group, Dr Budi Setiawan Djamhoer, in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to him, the Edelweiss Excellence Award 2026 is more than just a trophy presentation; it is an acknowledgement of the strategic contributions of these partners. “The employment protection ecosystem is a vital foundation for building a productive society,” he added.
At the holding company level, EHG continues to accelerate service turnaround times, simplify cashless services, and integrate IT systems to ensure smoother data exchange with partners. He emphasised EHG’s commitment to medical service integrity and full adherence to ethical medical standards, with zero compromise on overutilisation practices. He noted that all administrative processes are documented in an orderly and transparent manner, ensuring accountability during audits or joint evaluations.
“Let us work together to strengthen the commitment to increasing employee health productivity, as a healthy workforce is the primary asset for national progress,” he stated.
Meanwhile, a Board Member of Edelweiss Healthcare Group, Muhammad Fajrin Rasyid, explained that the Indonesian health insurance market is projected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.48 per cent, outpacing the stable national economic growth of approximately 5 per cent per annum. He noted that this growth is supported by the expansion of the National Health Insurance (JKN) coverage, rising demand from the middle class, and the emergence of micro-insurance via digital wallets.
Furthermore, the 2026 national health budget has reached IDR 244 trillion, a 15 per cent increase from the previous year. “This is a strong signal of the government’s commitment to the health sector,” he said.
However, the Executive Director of the Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI), Dr Emira E. Oepangat, noted that medical inflation in Indonesia is currently almost double the global inflation rate. She stated that this condition has triggered a 43.01 per cent increase in insurance premiums per policy in 2024 due to massive ‘repricing’ to respond to surging claim ratios. “This condition has the potential to push households into poverty, especially low-income families without access to adequate insurance,” she warned.
