Egypt seeks to facilitate US-Iran agreement
Cairo - President of Egypt Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday (31 May) stated that his country is working to help facilitate a peace agreement between the United States (US) and Iran during a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding regional developments. During the call, Sisi said Egypt is in intensive contact with relevant parties to help reach a comprehensive US-Iran deal. He affirmed Egypt’s position is based on international law and respect for national sovereignty and resources. Macron highlighted France’s efforts to achieve sustainable peace and prevent Middle East chaos, stressing the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and lift all restrictions on passage.
