Cairo (ANTARA) - Egypt is currently working with several countries, including Russia, to ease tensions in the Middle East, said Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. “We are striving to de-escalate tensions in this region with regional and international parties, such as Pakistan, Turkey, Gulf countries, the United States, Russia, China, and the European Union,” Abdelatty stated during a press conference in Cairo. On Tuesday (24/3), the New York Times quoted unnamed sources that Washington has submitted a 15-point plan to Tehran to resolve the Middle East conflict, in line with the increasing impact of the conflict on the American economy. Meanwhile, the Iranian television station Press TV, quoting a source, reported that Iran rejected the American proposal to end the conflict. The United States and Israel initially claimed their attacks were necessary to counter threats perceived from Iran’s nuclear programme. However, they soon clarified that the attacks were carried out because they wanted to see a change in power in Iran.
