Egypt discusses Middle East developments with US and Pakistan

Cairo (ANTARA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions in separate calls with US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday (29/7).

In his discussion with Witkoff, Abdelatty and the US envoy exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, emphasising the importance of controlling tensions and preventing the region from falling into a broader conflict, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abdelatty emphasised the need to uphold the principles of good neighbourliness, full compliance with international law, and respect for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of nations. He also stressed the importance of prioritising political and diplomatic solutions and intensifying efforts to restore regional security and stability.

In a telephone conversation with Dar, the ministers reviewed the rapidly evolving regional situation and emphasised the importance of easing tensions, halting military operations, and encouraging political and diplomatic solutions to regional crises.

They also reaffirmed the need to maintain close coordination and consultation between Egypt and Pakistan to support diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing regional peace and stability.
