Egypt calls Israeli attack in Lebanon an attempt to destabilise the region
Cairo (ANTARA) - Egypt’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday strongly condemned Israel’s attack in Lebanon, which it described as a new attempt to throw the region into chaos. “The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemns the series of Israeli airstrikes in various areas of fraternal Lebanon. These attacks reflect an intention to weaken international de-escalation efforts and represent a new Israeli attempt to drag the region into total chaos,” the statement read. According to the latest data from the Lebanese Health Ministry, the number of fatalities from Israel’s attacks in the country on Wednesday reached 112, while another 837 were injured. Earlier on the same day, US President Donald Trump stated that halting Israel’s attacks in Lebanon was not included in the ceasefire agreement with Iran due to the Hezbollah movement. On Tuesday night, Trump said he had approved a two-week bilateral ceasefire with Iran and assured that Iran had also agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council subsequently stated that Tehran would begin talks with the US on Friday in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. Source: Sputnik
