Egon erupts again, spews black smoke

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Mount Egon in Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, again spewed black smoke and ash some 2,500 meters into the air on Monday.

It was the third eruption after the last Thursday's eruption, which forced thousands of people living on the slopes of the mountain to take refuge in safer areas.

Henyo Kerong, head of the Sikka Health Office, called on people not to venture out of their homes unless absolutely necessary, as they might suffer respiratory problems from the smoke. -- Antara
