Singapore, (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - Today, eFuels SEA, Ltd. announced the launch of its new development platform committed to advancing electric fuel projects, or eFuels, in Southeast Asia. The company will utilise Infinium’s very low-carbon eFuels technology to develop and deploy commercial-scale production facilities in Southeast Asia to accelerate the transition to sustainable fuels.

Headquartered in Singapore, eFuels SEA will develop eFuel production facilities by converting captured carbon dioxide and renewable energy into drop-in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF) and very low-carbon products. The platform is supported by an experienced management team in Asia with expertise in energy markets, project financing, and industrial development, collaborating with regional partners.

Infinium is a world-leading company in very low-carbon electric fuels designed to decarbonise transportation and industrial supply chains. Infinium will license its eFuels technology to projects being developed by eFuels SEA in Southeast Asia. Infinium’s technology converts renewable electricity, water, and carbon dioxide waste into high-value liquid fuels that can be used with existing fuel supply infrastructure without modification.

“By leveraging Infinium’s proven technology, we are confident in delivering economic value, enhancing energy security, and achieving climate impact in Southeast Asia. We plan to collaborate with local partners and community members to accelerate project siting as a complement to local agendas for industrial development, workforce skills enhancement, and net-zero emissions commitments,” said David Wang, Co-Founder & CEO.

“Southeast Asia has the industrial capabilities and policy momentum to implement decarbonisation projects and truly become a leader in electric fuels. Additionally, there is an urgent need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels with sustainable energy to enhance energy security,” said Tienleong Tan, Strategic Advisor to eFuels SEA. Infinium Energy is a leader in commercialising very low-carbon electric fuels and has been operating the world’s first commercial-scale eFuels plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, since 2023. A second plant for Infinium technology is under construction in Pecos, Texas.

“We are pleased to partner with eFuels SEA to expand access to eFuels in Southeast Asia. This region is uniquely positioned to boost production of sustainable aviation fuel and other low-carbon fuels,” said Robert Schuetzle, CEO and Founder of Infinium.

Reducing carbon impact in Southeast Asia and its dependence on fossil fuels

Southeast Asia has a unique blend of fuel demand fundamentals and renewable energy sources. Countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia are advancing hydrogen and carbon management strategies aligned with large-scale eFuel use. This development creates favourable conditions for new projects that can support domestic decarbonisation goals while positioning the region as an exporter of sustainable fuels.

Accelerating the energy transition in Asia

eFuels SEA plans to target the development of 3-5 projects in several Southeast Asian countries. By combining regional project development expertise with Infinium’s advanced technology platform, the company aims to scale production to meet domestic demand and international market opportunities.
