Efforts, Trust, and Support to Tame the Fire at Bromo

The fire, which started in the Bantengan Block, has been burning for seven days and has spread across four regencies: Malang, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Probolinggo. The affected area has rapidly expanded from an initial 7.9 hectares to 44, then 51, 176, 520, and now 742.70 hectares as of Monday night. Strong winds have been a major factor in the fire’s spread, with flames crossing the 18-metre-wide Tengger Caldera Ring Road and igniting the savanna area. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Agency, under the Ministry of Forestry, has closed all entrances to the park, including Cemorolawang, Wonokitri, Jemplang, Coban Trisula, and Senduro, to facilitate firefighting and protect tourists. Joint teams from the four affected regencies, along with volunteers, are working tirelessly to extinguish the blaze.
