Efforts to Combat Malaria in Jayapura (2)

The Jayapura City Health Department records that malaria is still the disease with the highest number of cases. Several challenges in combating malaria in the Papua region include the geographical factor of mountainous areas, the remoteness of settlements, and limited access to modern healthcare facilities. The Jayapura City Government is vigorously distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets routinely and on a mass scale as a strategy to suppress malaria cases. In 2025, the Jayapura City Health Department distributed 115,427 insecticide-treated mosquito nets to 14 sub-districts/villages.
