Efficiency Measures Reach Klungkung Detention Centre, Prisoners' Meal Allowance Rp 7,000 per Serving
The Class IIB Detention Centre in Klungkung is carrying out budget efficiencies in line with central instructions. Amid these policies, the meal allowance for inmates is recorded at around Rp 7,000 per meal.
The head of the Klungkung Detention Centre, Alviantino Riski Satriyo, assured that the basic needs of the inmates are still fulfilled despite the budget cuts. These needs include food and medical treatment.
“If it’s for basic needs, they are still met. Such as food and health services, there is no reduction,” said Alviantino Riski Satriyo, Head of the Klungkung Detention Centre, on Friday (10/4/2025).
He explained that the allocation for inmates’ meals is Rp 22,000 per day for three meals. However, after deducting taxes, the budget per meal for the inmates becomes around Rp 7,000.
Nevertheless, the facility claims that the meal menus are still adjusted to nutritional standards and requirements, with a 10-day menu cycle.
Meanwhile, reductions are applied to the implementation of technical activities within the detention centre, both in security and detainee services.
“Rehabilitation activities, then personality development activities, their budgets have indeed been reduced in accordance with central instructions,” said Alviantino.
On the other hand, the work-from-home (WFH) policy is said not to impact the operations of the Klungkung Detention Centre. Alviantino emphasised that public services continue to run normally.
“Because we are of a service nature and a vital object, it is very likely that we will not be affected by WFH. We can open services 100 percent,” he concluded.
