Efficiency Measures: DPR Begins Limiting Operations of Official Vehicles

The Secretary General of the DPR, Indra Iskandar, has instructed DPR employees to implement President Prabowo’s directives on national energy efficiency. One of the measures includes using public transportation to reduce the use of private vehicles. “Employees are urged to reduce the use of private vehicles and switch to public transport,” Indra explained, as quoted from Kompas.com on Monday (30/3/2026). “Lifts and escalators will be operated from 07:00 to 18:00 local time. After 18:00, efficiency in the use/operation of lifts will be implemented by up to 70 percent,” Indra added. Furthermore, the operation of official vehicles is being restricted for high-ranking mid-level officials, high-ranking primary officials, and administrative officials, in reference to the implementation of work from home (WFH). It was previously known that the government will soon implement WFH to support national energy savings. The WFH policy is planned to be enforced by the government this week. This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto. “Before April. Approximately this week,” Airlangga clarified on Saturday (28/3/2026). This policy targets civil servants (ASN) and private sector employees. However, public service sectors must still report to the office. It is hoped that with this efficiency, fuel oil (BBM) consumption can be saved by 20 percent per day.
