JAKARTA – Operational efficiency and sound credit quality have supported banking profit growth amid rising funding costs. In the year to September 2026, Bank Mandiri’s consolidated net profit rose 20.7% to Rp45.5 trillion, driven by higher revenue and lower operating expenses.

Bank Mandiri Finance and Strategy Director Novita W. Anggraini said solid business growth, efficiency and asset-quality management were the main factors behind the company’s performance through the third quarter of 2026. Credit growth and transaction activity also contributed to revenue, she said.

“Revenue grew at a healthy 7.08% year on year to Rp97.3 trillion, supported by solid credit growth. At the same time, non-interest income grew faster, by 13.8% to Rp29.4 trillion, in line with increased transaction activity and banking services,” Novita said at Bank Mandiri’s third-quarter 2026 public performance briefing in Jakarta on Friday (23 October 2026).

Novita said Bank Mandiri’s net interest income rose 6.20% to Rp61.2 trillion. Growth was more moderate than in non-interest income amid rising funding costs across the banking industry.

“With increasingly strong and diversified income sources, Bank Mandiri’s total revenue continued to grow solidly, by 8.54% to Rp90.6 trillion. This revenue growth was also accompanied by consistent improvements in operational efficiency,” Novita said.

On efficiency, Bank Mandiri’s operating expenses fell 9.03% to Rp32.7 trillion. The reduction helped support 20.7% growth in consolidated net profit to Rp45.5 trillion at the end of September 2026.

The efficiency improvement was also reflected in a cost-to-income ratio (CIR) of 36.1%. This shows that cost management is an important factor in maintaining profitability amid business expansion.

Alongside efficiency gains, Bank Mandiri reported improved credit quality, with a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 0.98%. The ratio indicates that asset quality remained sound as lending expanded.

Novita said Bank Mandiri’s total assets grew 20.1% year on year through the third quarter of 2026. The increase was supported by credit growth of 16.0% and third-party funds (DPK) growth of 17.7%.

“Second, business expansion has been accompanied by healthier asset quality. The NPL ratio fell to 0.98%, while the CIR (cost-to-income ratio) stood at 36.1%,” Novita said.

In terms of profitability, Bank Mandiri recorded a return on equity (ROE) of 23.6%, while its return on assets (ROA) was 2.99%.

The company’s capital position also remained sound, with a capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 18.4%. This supports the bank’s business expansion while enabling it to manage risk.

Novita said business growth, improved efficiency and sound asset quality reflected the results of Bank Mandiri’s business transformation and digitalisation. The company is seeking to sustain profitability through disciplined management of revenue, costs and risk.

“With stronger and more diversified revenue, continued efficiency gains and sound asset quality, Bank Mandiri is optimistic that it can maintain healthy and sustainable profitability,” Novita said.
