Edy sets national best at Olympics

Edy Jakariya broke the national record during the heats of the 110-meter hurdles at the Olympic Games but the 21-year-old Indonesian failed to advance to the next stage in Athens on Tuesday.

Grouped in Heat 4, Edy chalked up his best time of 14.11 seconds to finish last in the group of eight runners, the Olympics official website says. His time eclipses Heru Prayogo's record of 14.30 seconds set in 1987. --JP
